Bruce Trail Resupply Plan

“Hard work should be rewarded with good food.”
-Ken Follett

The Bruce Trail in Ontario has quite a range of distance between resupply. Some will be barely over 1-2 days, while the longest is 183km. With the trail being well-worn and without any major elevation gains, it is easier to cover longer daily distances. So food carrying is not an issue on this trail. Canada is also a well-developed country which makes what you find in grocery stores not too far from what most of us know.

Here is some information for your resupply plan that I hope will make your prepping a lot easier.

Resupply Example

This is the resupply plan I used for my hike (in the direction I recommend, northbound). Keep in mind the kilometres stated might be a bit off. It is only an example and by no means the only way to go.
Niagara to Thorold: 19km
Thorold to Grimsby: 54km
Grimsby to Waterdown: 64Km
Waterdown to Orangeville: 164km (135km with alternative)
Orangeville to Eugenia: 183km
Eugenia to Owen Sound: 145km
Owen Sound to Wiarton: 78km (65km with alternative)
Wiarton to Lion's Head: 81km
Lion's Head to Tobermory: 85km

Full List

Niagara Falls (~km 0)
This touristic town is big enough to find anything you need.
Thorold (~km 19)
It has a grocery (Sobeys) a couple of hundred metres from the trail. No campgrounds but other accommodations.
Vineland (~km 51)
I didn't stop in this town but I know It has a campground and a grocery.
Grimsby (~km 73)

It has a grocery (Food Basics). I pushed on after my resupply, so I don't know about the sleeping possibilities.
Hamilton (~km 107)
Big enough to find anything you need.
Dundas (~km 129)
It has a grocery (Metro), 500m (one-way) from the trail. It's big enough to find accommodation easily.
Waterdown (~km 137)
It has some grocery stores (Walmart and Sobeys) and many restaurants. I didn’t spend the night so I don’t know about the sleeping options.
Milton (~km 191)

Stop here only if you really need a stop, the grocery is far off the trail (10km one-way), but the campground is closer (2.5km one-way).
Orangeville (~km 301)
Big enough to find everything you need. I little off from the trail (7km one-way). This alternative route will pass by the town.
Shelburne (~km 326)
Campground close to the trail (1.5km one-way), grocery a little further (5km one-way)
Blue Mountain Village (~km 430)
I didn't stop here but I know there are plenty of expensive accommodations and a village market for food.
Eugenia (~km 484)
It has a convenience store that has limited options at a markup. Be ready to make sacrifices.
Owen Sound (~km 629)
You can probably find anything you need in this town because of its size. Three campgrounds that I know of, plenty of other accommodations, and a public laundromat downtown. Looking for a shortcut that passes by this town? (take a look in alternative routes).
Wiarton (~km 707)
Has a nice campground close to the water, a good size grocery store (Foodland).
Lion's Head (~km 788)
This cute little town has a great grocery (Foodland) for the size of the town. A few accommodations (including a campground close to the water). Public bathroom right beside the campground.
Tobermory (~km 873)
This charming little town is very touristic, the harbour is full of touring boats. The good about touristic towns is that it has a good variety of accommodations and restaurants. It has two campgrounds of what I have seen, and a grocery store.
