Description

Across Newfoundland is an adventure I created by connecting multiple trails. First off, we have the East Coast Trail that follows the coast for a beautiful 300km.

Then we have the T'Railway, which is an old railway that was transformed into a recreational trail. After that, we have the Long Traverse and the Northern Traverse that crosses Gros Morne National Park. This 1000km journey starts and finishes at the sea.

Highlights

East Coast Trail: I really don't understand why this trail is not broadly known. It is a joy to do
Gros Morne: A beautiful and wild National Park
Easy resupply: Distances between towns are all fairly small
Community: People in Newfoundland are known for their friendliness

Challenges

Gros Morne: The trail that crosses the national park is not maintained and is a lot closer to a route than an actual trail. (the Northern traverse involves bushwalking and requires good mapping skills)
Coastal Weather: Since you are hiking a good part of the trail on the coast, get ready for some stormy weather. (I had an hurricane and tropical storm in my first 2 weeks)
ATVs: The longest part of the trail (T'Railway) is an ATV friendly trail, so get ready for multiple ATV (especially on weekends and hunting season)

When to go

The trail is open year-round. I decided to do it in the Fall. The Spring and Summer would have probably been just as nice. Be aware that they do have a good amount of snow so early spring can have a good amount of lingering snow.
