Dear Ego, we take you as our enemy
But all your reactions are those of a friend
You are the first to rise to take our defence
When someone tries to offend us

You are there to show that we are the best
When all we have left is fear
You're always in such a hurry and impatient
To make sure we do not waste our time.

You are always there to show us our strengths
When all we see is our weaknesses
You want us to be the first
To prove the world our worth

You lead us to accomplish unique feats
Encourages us to rise to the top of any rankings
So that we can gather some attention
And maybe even have a certain reputation

During all this time your deepest desire
Is that we can be ourselves
And utterly love one’s self
To make our lives more enjoyable

Thank you for those restless and ongoing tries
But sadly self-love is not something we can prove
We are the only one who can help us
For this, we simply need to stop and love

Dear ego, dear friend who wants my happiness
Thank you for your protection and your management
But now... it’s time for me
To go down alone on the path of self-love.
