“Man is free at the moment he wishes to be.” -Voltaire
March 9, 2018 | by
Jessy Desjardins
Version française
To be free is to welcome and express emotions when they arise.
To be free is to be honest and say what needs to be said. No more no less.
To be free is to stop wishing to be loved by others.
To be free is to choose our relationships.
To be free is to stay connected with our inner self, no matter what we do.
To be free is to have the capability to say “no” when you want to say no, and the ability to say “yes” when you want to say yes.
To be free is to be able to sit in silence without having to do or think about anything.
To be free is to face suffering, without wanting to ignore, repress or repair it, but only to welcome it.
To be free is to be ourselves no matter what other people want, think, or say.
To be free is no longer to be afraid of death.
To be free is to transform judgment into compassion.
To be free is to perceive all difficulties as an apprenticeship.
To be free is to no longer have expectations.
To be free is to love ourselves purely and infinitely.
To be free is to stop seeking happiness outside oneself.
To be free is to take responsibility for the events of our lives.
To be free is to realize that we are the only one who limits our freedom.
To truly be free is not to aspire to freedom, but to become it.
Being free is the most beautiful gift we can offer ourselves.
