Cost Breakdown

Ok, let's talk about money! I always keep track of my expenses when I travel (I use a budget app). I have decided to share the cost of my 3 weeks of travel to the Philippines (2019). Note that all prices are in Canadian Dollars (currency converter). Here's my breakdown:

Hotel

During my entire trip, I always stayed in private rooms (no dorms). So you could save more money if you do. As well the cost was shared with a travel partner. If you are a solo traveller, double this cost.

Average : $9/night

Transportation

I have always used local busses, not the "express" (not always quicker) tourist bus. Note that I didn't take any taxi, I usually walk.

Total: 124$
Average: 5-6$/day

Food

I avoided expensive restaurants and ate in street markets. Sometimes, I bought veggies and fruits.

Total: $144
Average: $6-7/day

Drinks

The cost doesn't include alcohol (I don't drink any) but does include fresh press juices.

Total: $41
Average: $2/day

Sightseeing

Mostly on Palawan like the different tours from El Nido.

Total: $185
Average: $8-9/day

Other

All the ones that don't fit in the categories above (soap and laundry for example)
