Description

This is actually an easy hike and pretty well define. It is just too awesome to no state it here. This trail is very simple, from the visitor center you walk along the slim river (west).
You will follow the shore of the river for about 23km until you make it to the territorial campground (you need a permit). From there you have to cross canada creek and follow it upstream. When it forks out take the left one (columbia creek). Continue for about a kilometre on this creek bed until you see a possibility to climb on left side of the creek. Once into the plateau the peak (observation mountain) is on your left. Make a gradual climb while making your way closer to the glacier. Once on the summit, you can either head back down the same way. Or take the alternative way.

For more info ask for the trail information at the visit center.

Personal Highlights

  • Grizzly (every single time I did this hike I saw grizzly bears)
  • Slim river (the walk along the river is easy and beautiful)
  • Kaskawulsh Glacier (obviously if you do this hike it is to see those 2 glaciers coming into one)

Challenges

  • Crowds (it is a well known trail up here in the Yukon, so you are most likely to see more than a few people.
