Cost Breakdown
Ok, let's talk about money! I always keep track of my expenses when I travel (I use a budget app). So I have decided to share the cost of my 2 weeks travel to Egypt (2019). Note that all prices are in Canadian Dollars (currency converter). Here's my breakdown:

Hotel
During my entire trip, I always stayed in private rooms (no dorms), so you could save more money here.
  • Total: $118
  • Average : $8-9/night

Transportation
I have always used local buses and I try to avoid taxis by walking, whenever possible. It doesn't include my flight from Cairo to the south of the country ($103). 
  • Total: 19$
  • Average: 1-2$/day 

Food
I avoided expensive restaurants and ate in street markets. Sometimes, I bought veggies and fruits.
  • Total: $30
  • Average: $2-3/day

Drinks
The cost doesn't include alcohol (I don't drink any), but do include water and getting drunk on cane sugar juice and fresh press orange juice (they are so good!).
  • Total: $5
  • Average: $0.35/day

Sightseeing
Sights will definitely be your biggest cost. There's a lot to see in Egypt! The cost includes the "premium" Tomb of Seti's and Nefertari's (nearly $75 each).  
  • Total: $246
  • Average: $17-18/day

Other
The biggest cost here is my 4 days diving ($115), and a Sim card ($8).

  • Average: $8-9/day

Grand Total: $542 ~$38/day
